Our Inspiration

Michele De Luca-Verley founded la maison de COCO with the hopes of sharing her passion for fine pastries and chocolates with a broader audience. Her fascination with pastries was kindled while living in New York City during the mid 1980’s. It was then that she was instructed in the basics of French Cuisine by an Alsatian Chef. She moved to France for 8 months and learned first hand the value of celebrating farm-fresh ingredients, using pastries as her canvas for artistic expression and indulging in the pleasures of afternoon tea.

She has spent the past twenty years crafting recipes that uphold the highest standard of quality… appreciated by both the artistic eye and the discerning palate. After returning to her native Rhode Island to take advantage of the fresh produce and agriculture indigenous to Aquidneck Island, she founded la maison de COCO. When asked about her inspiration for her products, Michele responded, “I’m inspired by the farmlands that surround me: the beauty of a sun-soaked berry, thick cream scented with grass, the simplicity of brown and blue eggs farmed up the road. I fervently hope that this love of Earth’s gifts transcends to each bite of my creations.”
